Both regional and fast Frecciarossa trains link the city of Naples with Salerno. The non-stop service from Naples Central Station takes just 39 minutes. Stopping services can take up to an hour and a half. There is a train for Salerno leaving Central Station every few minutes throughout the day.

Train Times from Naples Central Train Station to Salerno

An early Trenitalia service leaves Naples Central Train Station at 6.27 am, arriving at 7.53 am in Salerno. Perhaps a slightly better service to take is the fast regional train that leaves at 7.13 am, arriving in Salerno at 7.52 am. The last service of the day leaves Naples at 10.10 pm, arriving in Salerno at 10.47 pm.

The earliest service leaving Salerno starts at 6.08 am, arriving in Naples at 7.43 am. The final service of the day leaves Salerno at 7.01, arriving in Naples at 7.45 pm.

A cheap ticket on regional trains costs just 4.70 euros per person, one way. However, travelling on a standard ticket costs anything from 4.70 euros to ca. 11.50 euros on the Naples to Salerno route. Travelling on a fast Frecciarossa service is more expensive. A standard ticket costs 19.00 euros per person, a first class ticket costs 25.00 euros per person, one way.

These trains run every 30 minutes from Napoli Porto Nolana and Napoli Garibaldi stations, which are used by the Metro lines. One of the stops includes the famous UNESCO World Heritage Site of Pompeii.

From Napoli Garibaldi station the train goes to Ercolana Scavi, Torre el Greco, Torre Annunziata-Oplonti, Pompeii Scavi-Villa dei Misteri, Via Nocera, Castellammare, Vico Equense, Seiano, Meta, Piano, S. Agenello and Sorrento. Trains for Sorrento always leave from platform 3 at Napoli Porto Nolana station.

Train Times on the Naples-Sorrento Circumvesuviana Line

The first service of the day leaves Napoli Porto Nolana at 6.09 am, taking approx one hour to arrive in Sorrento.

The first train leaves Sorrento at 6.01 am, and the last at 9.55, arriving back in Naples at Porto Nolana station at 10.55 pm.

Tickets going one-way cost 3.60 euros per person for the Naples to Sorrento trip.

More than 80 trains a day leave Naples Central Station for Rome, taking approx one hour and 10 minutes to arrive.

The first fast service, operated by Trenitalia, leaves Naples at just after 4.00 am, but there's a more “user-friendly” service at 7.13 am, arriving in Rome at 8.30 am on weekdays. The last service of the day leaves Naples at 9.46 pm.

A standard ticket costs 18.90 euros per person, one way. Standard class tickets on Frecciarossa trains cost 19.90 euros per person, and 29.90 euros per person in First Class.

An early regional service leaves Naples Central Station for Bari Central at 5.50 am, arriving in Bari at 11.23 am after a 5 hour and 33 minute trip with two changes. There are frequent trains to Bari Central, some of them are part regional, part fast Frecciarossa services that first stop at Caserta, where passengers must change from the regional service to the fast Frecciarossa train, before arriving 2 hours and 49 minutes later at Bari Central.

A more convenient service leaves Naples Central Station at 8.13 am. The train stops at Caserta after a 40-minute trip. From there the Frecciarossa service leaves at 9.15 am to arrive at Bari at 12.04 pm.

Standard tickets on the slow regional services cost 27.45 euros per person, one way. First class travel on regional trains costs 30.45 euros for a one-way trip to Bari. However, there are always special offers available, and the cheapest fares can be as little as 16.30 euros per person.

Travelling on the Frecciarossa train to Bari Central costs 33.30 euros per person for a standard ticket. First class travel on the fast service costs 38.30 euros per person, one way.

The yellow Metro Line 1 goes to all the major tourist attraction sites in Napoli's historic city centre, including Central Station, Duomo, Università, Municipio, Toledo, Dante and Museo stations.

The purple Metro Line, the Cumana & Circumflegrea, runs to Pozzuoli via Montesanto, Corso Vittorio Emanuele, Fuorigrotta, Augusto, Mostra, Zoo Edenlandia, Agnano, Bagnoli, Dazio, Gerolomini and Cappuccini.
